Alfred Gockel - seit Jahrzehnten steht dieser Name in der internationalen Kunstbranche für ein hohes Maß an künstlerischem Ausdruck. Durch seine zahlreichen Ausstellungen und Live-Malerei-Events wird er bei Kunstkennern, Galeristen und Kunstsammlern weltweit geschätzt. Alfred Gockel wird in Lüdinghausen geboren. Er kommt schon früh mit der Kunst in Berührung
und ist erst 8 Jahre alt, als sein erstes Bild in einem Schulbuch veröffentlicht wird.
, nach der Bundeswehrzeit, beginnt er sein Studium im Bereich Design an der Fachhochschule Münster. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss wird er für zwei Jahre als Lehrbeauftragter für druckgrafische Techniken an seiner Fachhochschule engagiert, arbeitet aber zugleich erfolgreich als Designer und Maler.
Dem Drang nach freier künstlerischer Entfaltung folgend, beendet er seine Arbeit an der FH Münster und
widmet sich ganz seiner bildnerischen Tätigkeit. Alfred Gockel ist Künstler aus Leidenschaft.
gründet er den Kunstverlag Avant Art, der seine Kunstdrucke und limitierten Graphiken international verbreitet. Er nimmt an vielen internationalen Kunstmessen teil und gelingt ihm auf der Art Expo New York der Durchbruch in den USA.
erwirbt er ein historisches Mühlengebäude in Lüdinghausen und baut es zu einem druckgrafischen Zentrum um. Es bietet genügend Platz für seinen Wohnbereich, ein großzügiges Atelier und einem
Alfred Alexander Gockel (he goes by “Alex,” but his given name is Alfred) was born in the coal mining town near Münster, Germany in Gockel&#;s first work was published when he was only 8 years old. He planned to become an engineer, but at the age of 16 Gockel began to work in the German coal mines at meters deep. When the mining industry experienced a downturn, many of the town&#;s inhabitants were left without jobs. The struggle Gockel felt at this time continues to affect his artwork today. Gockel’s experience in the coal mines is a major reason why he uses self-prepared tar in his own acrylics.
Personal History
After spending more than two years in the army, Gockel refocused his attention on the arts and in he enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Münster, Department of Design. There, Gockel studied art and design and learned the techniques of lithography and silk-screening. Upon graduation, Gockel taught graphic design and typography at the academy. In the early s, he decided to focus on his art full-time and in he and his wife Ingrid founded an art publishing company, Avant Art, which is now a top ranked player in the abstract segment of the market with cus

Alfred Alexander Gockel was born in , in the coal mining community of Lüdinghausen, Germany. Both of his parents were creative, his father a designer and his mother a crafts maker. When he was eight years old and fascinated by the magic of color on paper, Gockel's talent and enthusiasm lead to the publication of his first artwork by a German publisher. "We did not have a lot of money when I was growing up," Gockel says. "My parents would take me to the zoo and I would sit down and paint for hours. They really inspired me to be an artist."
When he was 16, Gockel began working in the coal mines and was going to become an engineer. However, the mining industry collapsed and Gockel was forced into the army where he spent the next two and one half years. Then in , he began his studies at the Polytechnic Academy in Münster, where he specialized in the printing process of silkscreens and lithographs, and where he completed his degree in Since , Alfred Gockel has freelanced as a designer for some of Germany's largest advertising agencies, while devoting his free time to his paintin
