At birth, he was proclaimed a &#;Solomon&#; – one who would grow up with a deposit of wisdom rarely found in humans.

&#;You Agho! You again, you have passed through this route. You have reincarnated to become an Oba. An Oba indeed!&#; Oba Akenzua II, his father, had screamed on June 22, while announcing his birth.

Lifting the baby up, he added: &#;You will be Solomon – wise as King Solomon. The Lord will be your pillar and strength – (Igbinoghodua) but nobody should dare curse or invite your wrath.&#;

Ninety-two years on, and despite already nearing his ancestors, he would be described as wise man who still had the alertness to attend to matters of his people.

In order to test the sincerity of the Edionisen and know their ability to cater for his son, according to J. U. Egharevba, some lice were given to Oliha to look after. Eghaievba further cites tradition as saying that Oliha was able to send back the lice to Ododuwa (Ikaladerhan) at Uhe, after three years. It was this ability of Oliha to preserve the lice that gave Oliha the appellation Ogele or O gele muu Odu. He is today called Oliha ‘ne ogele’ as his praise name. After this feat, Ikaladerhan acceded to the request to send his son Oromiyan an entourage included amongst others the Edigin Ilawure Ihama and Ezima. They accompanied him to Igodomigodo.

I recently read the Oba Of Benin's Autobiography. His Royal Highness Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa the Oba has written a very lucid and interesting Autobiography.I highly recommend the was a priviledge to read it.

There has been a lot of controvery about the Ife-Benin connection or Benin-Ife connection. Though this is very important historically it is only 8 pages of an over page review will be about the other pages.
