Dr. Os Guinness is Senior Fellow at the Trinity Forum, a seminar-style forum for senior executives and political leaders that engages the leading ideas of our day in the context of faith.
Dr. Guinness was born in China, where his parents were medical missionaries. They were forced to leave by the communist Chinese in He was educated in England, receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of London and a from Oriel College, Oxford.
He has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since , when he was a guest scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies, and at the Brookings Institution. From , Dr. Guinness was Executive Director of the Williamsburg Charter Foundation, and one of the drafters of the Williamsburg Charter. He has written or edited more than a dozen books, the latest being Time for Truth: Living Free in a World of Lies, Hype and Spin.
His first book, The Dust of Death (, revised ), is a critique of counterculture. His second, In Two Minds () was recently rewritten as God in the Dark: The Assurance of Faith Beyond a Shadow of Doubt (). Os Guinness is an author and social critic. Great-great grandson of Arthur Guinness, the Dublin brewer, he was born in China in World War II, where his parents were medical missionaries. A witness to the climax of the Chinese revolution in , he was expelled with many other foreigners in and returned to Europe where he was educated in England. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of London and his DPhil in the social sciences at Oriel College, Oxford.
Guinness has written or edited more than 25 books, including The American Hour, Time for Truth, The Call, Invitation to the Classics, Long Journey Home, Unspeakable, and A Case for Civility, and A Free People&#;s Suicide. His latest book is The Global Public Square.
Previously, he was a freelance reporter with the BBC. Since coming to the United States in , Guinness has been a guest scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Studies and a Guest Scholar and Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution.
