'Bhola was always angry, Doctor was the nicest' IC hijack survivor shares his story
IC The Kandahar Hijack has gained a lot of praise for its portrayal of the hijack that shook India to its core. However, it has also come under fire for showing two of the terrorists named as Bhola and Shankar.
When the hostages returned home from Kandahar, many went on record to speak about their experiences and share details of the hijack and hijackers. One of them was Kollattu Ravikumar.
He shared his experience with Rediff and explained how each of the hijackers behaved with the passengers. According to him, Bhola and Shankar were actual names used by two of the terrorists on board.
Kollattu Ravikumar shared, “Their leader was the tall man sitting in the cockpit. He must have been around The four hijackers who were watching over us also had a leader, called Berger. It was Berger who used to often shout. As Berger called them, I caught the names of the others -- Bola, Shankar and Doctor.”
Describing the hijackers’ temperament, he said, “Bola was always angry. Shankar looked like a well-built commando. But Doctor was the nicest of the hijackers.
