Tiger Woods will return to the US Open in looking to add to win his 16th Major title after emerging victorious at Augusta in He faces a tough task though as the last time he played in a Major at Winged Foot was in where he shot +12 and missed the cut.
Tiger played his first tournament in , at Shinnecock Hills, but withdrew with a wrist injury in the second round. Over the next three years, he would show steady improvement with a T82, T19 and a T18 in each tournament, and then in he picked up his first top with a T3 at Pinehurst.
The first of his three tournament victories came in , and it started off his year of total and utter dominance of the four majors. Hosted at a tough playing Pebble Beach in California, the host course, Woods blew away the field on all four days, putting together rounds of 65, 69, 71 and 67 to win by a record 15 shots. Tiger's real first name is Eldrick. He was born on December 30, and grew up in Cypress, California. A young Tiger began taking an interest in golf when he was just six months old. He would watch his father, Earl, hit golf balls into a net and would try imitating his swing. He was given the nickname Tiger after a Vietnamese soldier and friend of his father, to whom his father had also given that nickname. Tiger Woods appeared on television practicing his swing at the age of two and by the time he was three, he had already shot a 48 on a nine-hole course. Tiger Woods is getting the movie treatment. An upcoming biopic about the golfer’s storied career is currently being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.
Based on Kevin Cook’s biography The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played, the film will reportedly focus on his early victories on the green, notably the four major consecutive championships he won in and
The scandals that plagued Woods’ career won’t be featured, nor will his numerous comebacks and injuries, the latest of which has resulted in a ruptured Achilles tendon. The year-old underwent surgery in early March and is now in recovery, but the injury will likely prevent him from playing in the Masters Tournament in April.
The biopic doesn’t yet have a title or release date, but Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground is currently in talks to produce the film, along with Rocky producer Irwin Winkler.
