Abraham (Abram) is Born
Abram (his birth name before being renamed Abraham) is the third son born to a man named Terah living in Ur of the Chaldees. At the time of his birth his older brother Haran is about 60 years old (Genesis ) with second brother Nahor at an unknown younger age. Terah is about years old at the time of Abraham's birth. The family into which he is born was known to worship pagan deities (Joshua ).
Modern archeology dates the city of Ur, located in ancient Mesopotamia near the Euphrates River, to around 3, B.C. It was resettled, after the great flood took place in , by Noah's son Shem and his descendants.

The Bible Story of Abraham
Abraham lived in the Old Testament days but is mentioned 72 times in the New Testament. The Hebrews Hall of Fame (in Hebrews 11) says, “From this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and countless as the sands on the seashore. He is called “God’s friend” (James ), a moniker with special meaning because of the covenant God initiated with him. He was just a human like you and me, but Abraham’s story is part of our story and one we all should know.
Where Was Abraham Born?
Abraham (first known as Abram) was born the son of Terah, who lived near the southern Mesopotamian city called “Ur of the Chaldees.” contributor Maddy Rager explains this city (located in modern-day Iraq) worshipped a moon god called Sin. Abram went north because God had a plan for eternity that included this man and didn’t include worshiping Sin.
The fact that one day, of all of his years, Abram heard God call out to him is more than amazing. The idea that God told him to “leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you” demonstrates a relationship of trust or at least knowledge of God
Abraham: The Founder of Judaism
Abraham (Avraham) was the first Jew, the founder of Judaism, the physical and spiritual ancestor of the Jewish people, and one of the three Patriarchs (Avot) of Judaism.
Abraham also plays a prominent role in Christianity and Islam, which are the other two major Abrahamic religions. Abrahamic religions trace their origins back to Abraham.
How Abraham Founded Judaism
Although Adam, the first man, believed in one God, most of his descendants prayed to many gods. Abraham, then, rediscovered monotheism.
Abraham was born Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia and lived with his father, Terah, and his wife, Sarah. Terah was a merchant who sold idols, but Abraham came to believe that there was only one God and smashed all but one of his father's idols.
Eventually, God called upon Abraham to leave Ur and settle in Canaan, which God promises to give to Abraham's descendants. Abraham agreed to the pact, which formed the basis of the covenant, or b'rit, between God and Abraham's descendants. The b'rit is fundamental to Judaism.
Abraham then moved to Canaan with Sarah and his nephew, Lot, and was for some years a nomad, traveling throughout
The Life of Abraham
Abraham is one of the most blessed people in the Bible. Although Scripture is not a comprehensive history of humans it does, however, chronicle the relationship of one man and his descendants with the Creator of the Universe. Ultimately, it is a record of how God has and will bless mankind through the life of the next person in our timeline.
The apostle Paul not only confirms that the world is blessed through Abraham's faithful life but also that anyone who has faith in God is considered one of his spiritual sons and heir of the promises.
Because of this, you should understand that those who are of faith are the true sons of Abraham.
Now in the Scriptures, God, seeing in advance that He would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." It is for this reason that those who are of faith are being blessed with the believing Abraham. (Galatians - 9, HBFV, see also Romans ).
Abraham, without a doubt, lived a most fascinating life! Abram (his birth name before God renamed him) was born in the city of Ur of the Chaldees to a family that included older brothers Haran and
